The updated admission processes is displayed in official website at www.mytcas.com. The details of the TCAS system are described as follow:
TCAS1: Portfolio admission. For TCAS1, no written exam is required. However, an interview based archives, aptitude, and attitude is conducted. Rubric scoring is used to select the qualified candidates for the program
TCAS2: Quota. KMUTNB Direct admission system: Students who finish science and mathematics program can apply for KMUTNB direct admission test, which is organized by the Academic Service Department. The examination consists of mathematics, engineering sciences, and English. Students who pass a paper based exam will be further interviewed for the attitude test.
TCAS3: Admission. In this system, students may use scores from the general aptitude test (GAT) and professional aptitude test (PAT3 and PAT7), which are organized by the TCAS, to apply to KMUTNB via the centralized system. Eligible applicant students must have GPA and PAT 73 more than 3.25 and 30%, respectively. Qualified students will be further interviewed for the attitude test.
TCAS4: Direct Admission. In this system, students may use scores from a six-semester average grade (GPAX), 5 subjects of the ordinary national education test (ONET 01-05), one subject of general aptitude test (GAT85) and professional aptitude test (PAT 72 & PAT 73), which are organized by the National Institute of Educational Testing Services, to apply to via the centralized system. Students must have minimum requirements in the subjects as follows: 6% ONETs 01-05, 15% GAT85, 15% PAT72, and 15% PAT 73. Qualified students will be further interviewed for the attitude test.
Our present Program Education Objectives (PEOs) are broad statements that describe what graduates are expected to attain within a few years after graduation. Within roughly three years, our graduate population will collectively exhibit the following traits:
PEO1 : Graduates apply their technical skills in mathematics, science, and engineering to the solution of complex problems encountered in modern Industrial Engineering practice.
PEO2 : Graduates model, analyze, design, and experimentally evaluate components or systems that achieve desired technical specifications subject to the reality of economic constraints with consideration of public health, safety, welfare, global, cultural, social, and environmental factors.
PEO3 : Graduates compete effectively in a world of rapid technological change by applying fundamental knowledge and life-long learning skill, and assume leadership roles within industrial, entrepreneurial, academic in the broad context of IE.
PEO4 : Graduates use their communication skills to function effectively both as individuals and as members of multidisciplinary and multicultural teams, and are able to function with the consideration of professional ethics and related laws.
Consistency of the ChE Program Educational Objectives with the Mission of KMUTNB
The program educational objectives (PEOs) support the missions of the institution, KMUTNB as following.
PEO1 : Graduates apply their technical skills in mathematics, science, and engineering to the solution of complex problems encountered in modern Industrial Engineering practice, and PEO2 : Graduates model, analyze, design, and experimentally evaluate components or systems that achieve desired technical specifications subject to the reality of economic constraints with consideration of public health, safety, welfare, global, cultural, social, and environmental factors, focus on technical competencies. IE, KMUTNB aims to educate undergraduate students with good fundamental knowledge and practical skills to comply with the KMUTNB mission of providing the qualified graduates to the society.
PEO3 : Graduates compete effectively in a world of rapid technological change by applying fundamental knowledge and life-long learning skill, and assume leadership roles within industrial, entrepreneurial, academic in the broad context of IE, focus on professional development. That is, the program will provide a quality education based on expert knowledge that enables its graduates to be successful problem solvers in a multi-cultural society.
The seven student outcomes for the Industrial Engineering program at King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) are listed below. As recommended by our faculty and IAB, they have been reorganized into a logical grouping of knowledge, skills, and attitude. We have also adopted the Engineering Criteria definition of outcomes as narrower statements that describe what students are expected to know or be able to do by the time of graduation from our program.
SO1 An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
SO2 An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
SO3 An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
SO4 An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
SO5 An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
SO6 An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
SO7 An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
Program Constituencies
IE, KMUTNB considers the program constituencies as our stakeholders in three ways:
-
students and alumni as our “products”,
-
employers as our “customers”, and
-
departmental faculty and staff as our “providers”.
We consistently focus our stakeholder opinions as an implication of ownership and responsibility on the part of the members. We try to build a better representation of the type of active, participating culture for all stakeholders in our department.
An explanation of our list of stakeholders:
-
Students and alumni (our products): the IE students are included as a program constituency. They are not only direct beneficiaries of an educational process, but also an effective educational process. Since they are both input and output of the program, their feedbacks are valuable for the program improvement. Alumni are the products and strong supporters of the academic program. Their careers demonstrate the accomplishment of the PEOs. To show appreciation for the education and development of their old school, alumni often become the major donors who play advisory roles and provide financial support for scholarships and endowments that directly affect students. Alumni also share updated and experienced technology from industries with current students.
-
Employers (our consumers): they desire to hire well-educated undergraduate engineering students, and graduates who accomplish all of the PEOs are a clear benefit to their employers. Normally, they want industrial engineers who can deal with complex engineering problems and engineering designs, work with professional skills with critical, thinking and life-long learning.
-
Departmental faculty and staff (our providers): the engineering faculty and staff have the academic responsibility for the curriculum and for education of the students. The program planning and curricula management are a major means of accomplishing all of the program’s objectives. Conducting research and encouraging students’ development are also our main duties. Since our actions and behaviors show a direct impact on the department, we are responsible for the well-being of the department. Regarding to this point, we are highly interested in helping students and sharing our knowledge and in creating new knowledge in chemical engineering and related fields.
Within the context of this discourse, we feel that it is appropriate to introduce our “Industry Advisory Board (IAB) for IE, KMUTNB” since they represent our Department’s most immediate and direct connection to a portion of our constituencies/stakeholders, our students, alumni, and employers. Since 2020, our IAB had included various members of our alumni, employers and industrial experts. Furthermore, our IAB was carefully chosen from among leaders in the relevant fields and professionally successful alumni, see Table for a history of IAB members.
