Supply Chain, Logistics, and ERP Implementation in Thai Industry

So far Logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM) have become famous in Thai industry. ERP system is one of intelligent tools to success in SCM goals. This area deals with current practice studying (As-Is process), Business Process Re-engineering, Software selection, Implementation strategy, Project management strategy, Change Management, and Training.

Production and Inventory Management (P&IM) Problems in Thai Industries.

There are various problems related to the production and inventory management (P&IM) systems in Thai industries. The characteristics and causes of such problem should be analyzed in order to design an appropriate P&IM system or to improve the performance of the system. This research aims to identify the characteristics and also caused of the encountered P&IM problems in Thai industries using an interview survey and case studies. This research also aims to suggest the types of data that should be collected for various P&IM purposed, and how to collect or estimate the data. Moreover, the appropriate database structure will be designed to orderly store the data. Simple application software will be developed to update inventory transactions.

Developing the Appropriate P&IM System for Thai Industries.

Since the situation of industries in developed and developing countries are different. Therefore, the P&IM systems widely used in developed countries, for instant, JIT, MRP, and TOC (Theory of Constraints) may not be suitable for Thai industries. An entirely new system or a modification of certain existing systems may be required by Thai industries. This research aims to recommend P&IM techniques or systems suitable for Thai industries by focusing on aggregate planning, master production scheduling, production and purchasing scheduling, and shop floor control.

Develop the ERP System for Small-to Medium-Sized Industries (SMIs) in Thailand.

Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP) software packages available in the market at present are very expensive and may be unaffordable by SMIs inThailand. The software is designed as a general tool to be applicable for almost all types of industries. It is therefore complicated and difficult to use. This research aims to design various ERP systems, which are appropriate, less complicated, easier to use, and more affordable for different types of SMIs in Thailand.

Heuristic Scheduling Algorithms

Scheduling is a topic which is well-known in the way of complexity. It requires a huge amount of efford to solve this kind of problem. Heuristic scheduling algorithm such as Simulate Annealing and Genetic Algorithm can be applied to determine the near optimal solution. The study is concerned about constructing an algorithm that is suitable and satisfied the constraints of Thai industrial problem.

Process improvement by using Lean, TQM, and JIT concept

Process improvement is one of the most important areas which needs to be maintained. Tools as Lean, JIT, and TQM are very useful to apply in order to accomplish the improvement target.

Simulation Modeling and Analysis

Simulation is one of the most powerful analysis tools. This research area involves modelling of actual and large complex systems using computer simulations and conducting analyses on the simulation results. The objectives are to study and predict the behavior of actual system, to improve the existing system, or to design new systems.
